Dr. Robert Gorter, lecturing as the key note speaker at the Ain Shams University in Cairo on a conference on Stem Cells. Dr. Gorter lectured on research and the clinical applications of his group in patients with Parkinson's Disease, HCV-associated liver cirrhosis and Diabetes Mellitus.

Mr. Abd-ur-Rehman Ashraf arrived at the the Atlantis Hotel in Dubai two days after Dr. Gorter and here, Mr. Ashraf is waiting to meet with Dr. Robert Gorter to discuss the schedule for that day.
Mr. Abd-ur-Rehman Ashraf from Lahore in Pakistan who has been collaborating with Dr. Gorter over the last 4 years and who was able to come to Dubai to get further introduced in the work which he will soon have to start in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and in Cologne, Germany.
In front of the 5 stories-tall aquarium with 60.000 fishes, Mr. Ashraf on the telephone to organize final details of the meetings-to-come for that day.

The Atlantis Hotel in Dubai has as its theme Atlantis, the lost continent which was still refered to by the great ancient Greek philosopher Plato. Famous is the 5 stories tall deep-sea aquarium with more than 60.000 fishes. Dr. Gorter usually stays at this hotel when he visits Dubai.
Mr. Michael Hommes, attorney-at-law in Cologne in Germany, accompanied Dr. Gorter for a few days in Dubai to give legal advice and assistance around the clock in meetings with doctors and investors in Dubai.
Dr. Robert Gorter, the Director of Medical Center Cologne, visited Egypt and Dubai early September 2009. First of all, the trip went to Alexandria to meet with Dr. Halawani, Professor of Haematology-Oncology at the University of Alexandria in Egypt. The main topics of discussion were future collaboration in lecturing, clinical application of the therapies, as developed by the Medical Center Cologne in Germany, and combined clinical studies and grant applications.
A follow-up meeting with Professor Halawani and the new Dean of the Medical Faculty of the University of Alexandria has been planned in early October 2009.
Secondly, Robert Gorter met with Mr. Jan Shaker, who graduated recently as pharmacist at the University of Alexandria. Jan Shaker has been hired as a collaborator to assist Dr. Gorter and his team in setting up and develop new medications, derived from plant materials (“Phyto-Engeneering”). These medications will be applied by Dr. Gorter and his team to ensure optimal effective therapies with no toxicities. In part, well-established German pharmaceutical companies will provide medications (like Viscum album preparations from ABNOBAviscum, Stibium, Gold and Meteoric Iron from the Weleda) and re-package them for use under an own label abroad. In part, with support of Dr. Gorter, Jan Shaker will be instrumental in developing, manufacturing and marketing new and innovative plant-derived medications (like Crataegus for hypertension and poor coronary flow, or Dronabinol, or THC, for anorexia and cachexia, insomnia and pain relief).
Thirdly, Dr. Gorter met with the journalist and writer Mr. Tareq , a Jordanian-born academic who graduated from the American University in Amman and who supports Dr. Gorter, among other things, in translating texts from English into Arabic. Right now, Mr. Tareq continues to study and work at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
To be able to have consistent access to sufficient raw plant material, discussions with bio-dynamic farmers in sub-tropical countries for the cultivation of these plants have been initiated. On several occasions, the government of Lebanon has expressed great interest in providing appropriate agricultural land to meet these requirements, and comply with international laws and regulations.
As part of his monthly visit to the office in Nasr City, Dr. Gorter met with General Rasoul Gharabawy, the general office manager, and the complete team. A few patients were seen and educated about possible treatment by the team of MCC in Germany. Since the visit was during Ramadan, a scaled-down program for Dr. Gorter had been put in place.
Then, the next important activity of Dr. Gorter was to fly to Dubai to meet with Dr. Ahmed Halabashy and Mr. Sam Fahmy, and other Dubai citizens. Dr. Gorter was accompanied by Mr. Michael Hommes, attorney-at-law in Cologne in Germany. Official governmental departments have been visited. All meetings took place in a very positive atmosphere, and it is likely that Dr. Gorter will fly regularly to Dubai from now on.
Also, a very important meeting was with Mr. Abd-ur-Rehman Ashraf from Pakistan. Mr. Ashraf is a long-time collaborator of Dr. Gorter and has been instrumental in educating and supporting patients from Pakistan and India in the treatment at the Medical Center Cologne in Germany. In addition, he has nursing skills and has translated texts from English into Urdu and Hindi. Also, Mr. Ashraf has started studying German in Dubai. Eventually, Mr. Ashraf will join the team in Amsterdam in the Netherlands, and in Cologne in Germany.
Visit to New Zealand
(from July 2nd through July 12th, 2009)
Dr. Robert Gorter visited New Zealand from July 2nd through 12th, 2009, to meet with various colleagues and groups of people in the medical field and faculty members of the University of Auckland, the capital of New Zealand, active in the field of internal medicine, oncology and infectious diseases.
Robert Gorter was accompanied by Mr. Dawood Khan most of the time. Mr. Dawood is a long-time friend and a Pakistani citizen from Lahore. Dawood grew up in Australia and is now finishing up his education in business administration. He was very helpful to Robert Gorter in sorting things out like addresses and finding the way by car or public transportation. Also, he has offered to translate the website of Medical Center Cologne in Urdu, the main language spoken in Pakistan.
Most helpful was Dr. Roger Leitch from Auckland and his wife Gertrude. Gertrude is a registered nurse from Austria and met Roger Leitch during his training in Anthroposophical Medicine at the Ita Wegman Klinik in Arlesheim in Switzerland. She still speaks German with a strong Austrian accent. During his stay, Gertrude organized several dinners at their house to make it easier for Robert Gorter to meet with new friends, other colleagues and therapists.
On two different occasions, Robert Gorter visited the Anthroposophical Society in Auckland, and met besides members of the Society also the local curative eurythmist, another doctor besides Dr. Leitch and Gertrude, another registered nurse and two art therapists at the newly renovated building of the Auckland Anthroposophical branch.
At one occasion, Robert Gorter was invited for dinner to the house of Dr. Roger Leitch and his wife Gertrude (who is an excellent cook) to meet several members of the Anthroposophical Society to get introduced and plan future collaborations.
At the last evening of Robert Gorter’s stay, a dinner meeting had been organized at the house of Prof. Mark Thomas and his wife Mimi, who is a Family Practitioner herself. Their son Sam cooked a delicious vegan biodynamic dinner. At the diner table, possible future projects were discussed and outlined.
Dr. Gorter will most likely still return to New Zealand before the end of 2009.

March 20th through 24th, 2009
Visit to Casablanca in Morocco
Robert Gorter, MD, PhD., visited Casablanca in Morocco for the first time from March 20th through 24th, 2009, to establish connections with the University of Casablanca and their center for Oncology at the university hospital. In the summer of 2008, contacts had been made by a family member of the Royal Family with Robert Gorter, and who came to Cologne to discuss a possible collaboration with the Medical Center Cologne (MCC) and the University of Casablanca. Four possible areas of collaboration were then discussed:
- setting up medical services as offered by MCC in an existing hospital in Casablanca;
- offer training for medical doctors and other health care profesionals in the areas of expertise of MCC in Germany;
- establish clinical research unit at the University of Casablanca, or another appropriate medical institution in Morocco;
- support in establishing a master's and a PhD program for brilliant Moroccan research fellows at MCC with the help of scolarships from the Deutsche Akademische Austausch Dienst (DAAD).
Not till March 2009, secondary to an overload of work, Dr. Gorter was able to travel to Moroco.
Robert Gorter was accompanied by Abdellatif Benalla
for translation and support in local travel (avoid fights with taxi drivers about the fare!). Abdellatif Benalla is a lawyer and speaks several langauges. Abdellatif was a perfect host and in between meetings, he showed Robert Gorter the city, including the third largest Mosque in the world, the King Hassan II Mosque (see pictures). Very likely, in the future, Abdellatif will function as the private secretary of Dr. Gorter in Morocco, It was told by the tour guide inside the mosque that King Hassan II had spent about 800 million US dollars out of his oqn pocket to built this mosque, bearing his name. ..... Abellatif was a perfect host who took good care of Dr. Gorter, and each day, they walked for hours nonstop through the city (see pictures).
Robert Gorter visited the University Hospital of Casablanca and its Center for Oncology (see pictures). The head of this center is Professor Abdellatif Benider, a very gentle man who received Robert Gorter more than friendly. It was there decided to organize a workshop for staff and professors, and give a guest lecture for medical students on dendritic cells in the oncologic patient and stem cells for tissue repair. Most likely, Robert Gorter's next visit to Morocco will take place early May of 2009.
